History of the contribution given by the Sicilians to the Jazz music
Sicily is, among the regions of Italy, the one that
has given the greatest human contribution to the birth of Jazz.
This is demonstrated by:
a) the enormous concentration of names of Sicilians, originary from the provinces of
Trapani, Palermo and Agrigento in the area of New Orleans (Louisiana);
b) the existence, at the end of the nineteenth century, of a direct sailing line connecting the harbors of Palermo
and New Orleans with the s/s "Montebello".
